Quick start

The first time you start VersaTimer, it will automatically create a timer called "Timer 1". All settings will be at default values, and to be able to use the timer you need to change the settings to fit your needs.

Open the Timer Settings dialog
In the main menu, click Settings | Timer settings. The timer settings dialog will now appear, with the automatically created default values for all settings.

Adjust the settings
For this example we will create a timer that starts countdown from 30 minutes, with a spoken announcement every five minutes. The last 5 minutes the announcement will be made every minute, and the last ten seconds a beep will be heard every second. When the timer reaches zero, a "fanfare" sound will be played. Please follow the steps below:

  1. Drag the "Quick Set" handle to the right, so that the "Start from" value reads 00:30:00. Alternatively, you can click the small up/down buttons right of each number. See image below:

  2. In the "General announcement/sound" box, select "Every 5 minutes" and "Announce the time left". See image below:

  3. In the "Timer expire" box, select the "Play fanfare sound" option. See image below:

  4. Make sure the tab "Rule 1" is selected. Enable the rule and set the start time to 00:05:00. Select "Every minute" for when to perform the action and finally select "Announce the time left" as the action to perform. See image below:

  5. Click the "Rule 2" tab and enable this rule as well. Set the start time to 00:00:10. Select "Every second" for when to perform the action and finally select "Play beep sound" as the action to perform. See image below:

That's it! You have now created a new timer and by clicking the Close button you will return to the main screen.

Run the timer!
Now simply click the START button. The timer will start the countdown, and while counting down it will perform the actions you just defined. When it reaches zero, the "fanfare" sound will be played, and the digits will start flashing. Click the STOP button to stop the flashing.

While the timer is running you can stop it, and start it again simply by clicking the START/STOP button. As you can see, the label on the button changes depending on the state of the timer.

When the timer is not running, you can click the RESET button to set the timer to the initial start time.
